Summary

Jeanette Morgan will introduce us to 'Let's go Trail projects' - Have you ever gone outside and asked, “What is that and who put it there?” This question is the essence of The Let’s Go Trail Projects. Is your school near a housing estate? A busy road? A playground? Or an area of outstanding natural beauty? If the answer is yes, you have an incredible resource on your doorstep, ready to be used. The purpose of this course is to inspire colleagues to really see the world they have just beyond their classroom as a resource, not just a space to be in. We will look at why it is so important to use it, as well as how to use it and how to teach in it. In this course we will look at how the immediate environment around your school can enhance the STEM curriculum for your children.
By the end of this course you should have a deeper understanding of the gains to be had by engaging with the space outside your classrooms and beyond. You will have a range of ideas as to how the outdoors can be used to deliver a STEM curriculum, to give your children the best opportunities to understand the world they live in, as well as connect with it in a fulfilling and meaningful way.
Dr Andrew Chandler-Grevatt will introduce Moss Safari to you to encourage children to take an interest in the microscopic world. Check out a live demo of a Moss Safari -  https://mosssafari.wordpress.com/
