Summary

This course booking link is only available to schools involved in the Driffield, Keyingham and Keldmarsh Enthuse Partnerships (EP2524, EP 25 32 and EP2525). 

This is a full day event at a central venue: Tickton Grange Hotel (RR / Rose Room) , Main Street, Tickton, Beverley, East Yorkshire, HU17 9SH.
 
Leading core subjects presents a range of ongoing challenges including promoting effective teaching and learning, successfully managing a team of people, and developing efficient and sustainable administrative procedures.
 
This course aims to ensure those with responsibility for leading science in school are fully up to date with the latest evidence based pedagogical developments, with contemporary research and with the current local and national picture. This is informed by of the latest OFSTED research review and OFSTED science subject report for science. Meetings will be interactive and offer practical ideas for use in the classroom and in wider aspects of the leadership role. They will also provide a forum for sharing and networking good practice.Each meeting has totally new content and delegates are recommended to attend all meetings for maximum benefit.

 

Who is it for?

These sessions are for new and experienced Science subject leaders and involve a combination of interactive activities, taught sessions, inspirational guest speakers and opportunities to network with leaders in other schools.

Outcomes

Attendance at the events will support and enable participants to:

      • build and articulate their vision and consider key principles for effective teaching and learning
      • consider what progress looks like in Science, in both substantive (conceptual) and disciplinary (Working scientifically) knowledge, and how this informs curriculum planning and implementation
      • reflect upon curriculum can be sequenced to maximise coherence and pupil progress
      • to consider effective, evidence based, assessment procedures and practices. Moderation will be an ongoing session, as requested by SLs
      • appraise their own subject leadership skills to identify areas for action that will impact on personal and staff development and, subsequently, pupil progress
      • share and model, successful evidence-based pedagogy and effective practice across the LA and within their schools, selecting appropriate improvements to be implemented in the classroom
      • evaluate the impact of any actions and developments in the context of their own school and in relation to pupil progress
      • self-evaluate and consider effective M & E practices in their subject and quality assure for consistency across the school
