Snowboard Designer
Liza Brooks is a snowboard designer. This Department for Education clip illustrates the link between studying science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) subjects at school with careers in design and manufacture.
Liza describes how her job involves looking at the science that goes into a snowboard. This involves how the rider moves on the slope, the board's materials and its construction. Understanding factors such as these help Liza to design a better snowboard.
Says Liza, "My advice to anyone who wants to do a job like mine; make sure you study maths, physics and design technology at A-level and then take a mechanical engineering degree when you go to university. I think Science and Maths have led me to the best job in the world.''
