1. Introduction - Saving Today’s Dinosaurs

This session introduces the 'Saving Today's Dinosaurs' course with a video which explains pupils will be thinking about the living things that humans share the planet with, how humans can have a positive or negative impact on the environment, and how we can help protect living things from extinction. Children will explore some key vocabulary such as extinction, endangered, habitat, and impact then take part in an online poll to share how they feel about the impact humans are having on nature and the planet.

Pupils then learn in a video about the Natural History Museum that birds are the dinosaurs of today and that they need our help to ensure they don't become extinct like their ancestors. They go on to explore the similarities and differences between different birds from around the world, and between birds and dinosaurs, before being tasked with creating or building their own bird with adaptations to suit a particular environment.

The session finishes with a quiz to test the pupils' learning.
