Spacecraft Engineer

Simon Meek is a spacecraft engineer, designing, building and tracking satellites. This Department for Education clip shows how studying science and mathematics open the gateway to interesting careers. Simon studied maths, physics and English at A-level and went on to study for a degree in Physics.

Following this he took a masters degree in astronautics and space engineering. Simon describes how his job involves making and testing satellites involved in Earth observation. A role in which mathematics and science skills are vital. He says, "It's very challenging job, but it's also very exciting and hands on too."
