STEM Enrichment Activities
A list of resources providing information to help run STEM enrichment activities.
STEM Enrichment
STEM Ambassadors are volunteers from a wide range of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) related jobs and disciplines across the UK. They offer their time and enthusiasm to help bring STEM subjects to life and demonstrate the value of them in life and careers.
STEM Clubs are a powerful and enjoyable way to engage young people with science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) subjects.
The STEM Directory is a database of providers offering STEM enhancement and enrichment to schools and colleges locally and nationally. Teachers can easily search for shows, workshops, debates, challenges, visiting speakers and more.
Find exciting opportunities for in-class support, memorable days out, and engaging projects to motivate your students.
Royal Institution grants
The Royal Institution’s STEM E&E grants are designed to help integrate science, technology, engineering and mathematics activities into school practice and to support teachers’ professional development. Activities enrich or go beyond the curriculum and often use resources that are not readily available to schools. Activities can range from shows and talks to workshops and team-based challenges.
Teachers can apply for a STEM E&E grant of up to £500. They must select their activity from the STEM Directory.
Royal Society Partnership Grants
Partnership Grants of up to £3000 are available to schools to enable students, aged 5 – 18, to carry out science, technology, engineering or mathematics (STEM) projects.
Managing STEM Enhancement and Enrichment
From the National Strategies, these documents give advice and guidance on delivering a successful science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) curriculum enrichment and enhancement programme. The documents look at planning, implementing and monitoring an enrichment programme as well as how to make sure it contributes to a whole school development plan.
Enriching School Science for the Gifted Learner
These resources, developed by the Gatsby Science Enhancement Programme in collaboration with the ASCEND project, were designed to support science teachers, those with responsibility in science departments, and Gifted and Talented coordinators in schools.
Developing a STEM Enrichment Programme
Produced by the Learning and Skills Improvement Service (LSIS), this case study looks at the themes of enrichment and enhancement in STEM, employer engagement and knowledge and technology transfer
