Skill 6: Knowledge Presentation

Produced by Gatsby Science Enhancement Programme, the resources in this section help students to develop their skills in presenting their scientific knowledge.

There are a variety of ways in which knowledge can be presented: as a lecture, poster, written paper, presentation, article, leaflet or video film. Different types of information will suit different forms of presentation. This skill area helps students to develop their skills in presenting knowledge by exploring:

Oral presentation – emphasising skills in arranging content in a logical sequence which is easy to understand by the listeners within a fixed time.

Displaying a poster – arranging content in a specific form and sequence which stresses the clear continuity between text and visual information. A scientific poster has to be designed within fixed requirements such as the size of the poster, font size and number of illustrations.
