Building busters
This resource forms part of the Clean Growth resources from the Grand Challenges resource collection. The introductory video can be found here.
In this activity students will look at how buildings use energy and where they waste energy. A survey is completed where students look at different appliances and how much energy they use, by comparing their power and the length of time students would realistically use each one. Students will also compare different types of bulbs to see which are the most energy efficient ones to have at home or school, as well as comparing which classrooms use the most energy. Students will also undertake a heat loss audit, to see where the most heat is lost from school buildings.
Once all this has been undertaken, a final report is produced to show how we can reduce energy bills.
