Plastics Playtime

Produced by The Centre for Industry Education Collaboration (CIEC), these resources help to put curriculum science in a real life context. In these activities, children test and classify plastics before investigating their thermal insulation and shock resistance properties. The children then design, make and test a package for a fragile object, using plastics and other materials.

These resources provide an opportunity for children to think about materials and their properties. Children consider what objects are made from plastic and investigate how plastics can be identified. Children go on to look at thermal insulation as a characteristic of plastics.

Extensive teacher guidance and children's activity sheets are contained within these materials.
