Fractional Distillation *suitable for home teaching*

This resource from Defence Dynamics help students to understand the process of fractional distillation in the context of crude oil distillation. In the first activity, students consider the physical properties of different oil fractions. They then compare their boiling ranges and examine the relationship between viscosity and boiling range. In the second activity, students label a fractional distillation column, looking at uses for each fuel, and consider the relationship between hydrocarbons and their boiling points.
