South West Composites Gateway

Produced by the Learning and Skills Improvement Service (LSIS), this case study looks at the themes of knowledge and technology transfer, new industry jobs and curriculum development. By the City of Bristol College, the study describes how the ‘composites gateway’ helps small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to develop specialist technology innovation and advanced engineering in composite materials. This aims to build the capacity of further education colleges to provide services to businesses in the aerospace, automotive, marine, advanced engineering and renewable energy sectors. The project enables both further education staff and commercial practitioners to increase their industrial knowledge and experience.
