In this unit, Year 2 pupils will learn to use a computer to create music. They will listen to a variety of pieces of music and consider how music makes the feel. Pupils will compare creating music in a digital format and using untuned percussion instruments. To end the unit pupils will look at patterns and create their own musical compositions using skills of tempo, pitch and rhythm. This unit provided by the National Centre for Computing Education covers key areas of the Key Stage 1 computing curriculum;

  • To use technology purposefully to create, organise, store, manipulate and retrieve digital content,
  • Recognise common uses of information technology beyond school,
  • Use technology safely and respectfully.

This unit also supports the KS1 music curriculum;

  • Listen with concentration and understanding to a range of high quality live and recorded music,
  • Experiment with, create, select and combine sounds using the inter related dimensions of music.
  • Play tuned and untuned instruments musically.
