This course will help governors to understand what is meant by curriculum intent, and how governors can support senior leaders to improve the STEM curriculum.


Summary

The role of governors in providing support and challenge to curriculum and senior leaders is more important now than it ever has been. Schools are currently facing a great deal of uncertainty and their success in navigating through this period depends on strong and informed leadership.

The course will equip school governors with the skills and understanding they need in order to provide appropriate challenge to middle and senior leaders around the intent, implementation and impact of their STEM curriculum. You will also look more widely at how, as a governor, you can support the development of positive attitudes towards STEM education and STEM employability skills through non-curriculum based approaches, such as science capital and STEM Ambassadors.
