Summary

This course is ideal for leaders of primary D&T to consider how your scheme of learning enables children to develop the skills, knowledge and understanding of the different elements of the primary design and technology national curriculum.

You will reflect on National Curriculum requirements and progression from early Years through to Year 6.  You will consider the effectiveness of design and make activities, and consider how to plan opportunities for children to:

  • to be creative and use their imaginations to solve a real and relevant problem
  • critically consider the materials and processes available to them and chose the ones which suit a product’s purpose and user the most
  • develops the skills to make designed products and
  • test and evaluate so that they can suggest changes and make improvement
