Practical ideas for teaching physics: year 1 to year 6 NY063
From seasons to machines and magnets to space, this course will explore engaging and hands-on teaching opportunities to develop pupils' subject knowledge in physics.
Who is it for?
What topics are covered?
⚪ where physics fits into the National Curriculum at both key stage 1 and 2
⚪ forces and magnets; including gravity, air resistance, water resistance and friction
⚪ light; including shadows and colour. We will also look at how light is used and reflections
⚪ electricity: looking at circuits and problem solving within a real life context
⚪ earth and Space; this will include using space as a context for using across the curriculum
⚪ sound; how sound is produced, pitch, volume and recording sound. This session will also explore datalogging
⚪ enriching primary physics and including it at key stage 1
How long is the course?
Who are the course leaders?
