Placements are available with Northumbrian Water supported by a £1000 ENTHUSE bursary.
The final part of the programme is a one-day professional development experience, held four to six months after your placement.
This opportunity is suitable for primary, secondary and FE teachers or those with additional responsibility for careers.
Northumbrian Water Limited (NWL) is one of ten regulated Water and Sewerage Companies in England and Wales, operating in the north east of England. During your placement you will gain an understanding of the Water Sector in terms of the roles people play to deliver a quality product (clean drinking water) to customers. You will visit one of our Water Treatment Works & Sewage Treatment works as well as spending time with key departments including the customer contact centre, laboratories, and responding to customer requests working alongside distribution technicians.
As part of the placement you will have the opportunity to help shape Northumbrian Water's new work experience programme aimed at year 10 students.
Going on a placement with Northumbrian Water will help you to:
- inspire your students – see first-hand the wide range of careers available to students in the food industry
- build strong links with a local employer – connect with a local employer to develop staff and student experiences, with the aim of creating a longer term partnership
- gain ideas for future collaboration (eg work experience, mentoring, speakers) and develop your own understanding to inspire your students to consider STEM careers and further study
- enhance your advice on careers options – gain useful information about how to support students to make careers choices within STEM
