Primary teachers need a sound basic knowledge in all curriculum subjects; science is probably the most challenging for many.
This practical based course will provide access to the science that explains the way that materials behave and change under different conditions in an accessible teacher friendly format. You will improve your personal expertise and science knowledge to motivate children and have confidence in answering their questions about this demanding area of science.

You will be able to:
- acquire science subject knowledge at a higher level, which will aid your understanding of primary science
- develop your knowledge and understanding of how materials react to changes in temperature, pressure and contact with other materials
- identify the most common misconceptions held by adults and children, find out why they are incorrect and develop strategies to help children understand the scientific explanation
- develop an approach to action planning that will be used in your classroom in the two terms following the course

ENTHUSE Awards contribute towards the costs of attending world-class continuing professional development (CPD) provided by the National STEM Learning Centre.
