Summary

Microbiology is an integral part of biology learning throughout secondary science. It also requires particular skills and knowledge for technicians to prepare equipment for students to use that is both safe and effective.

We'll take you through basic and more advanced aseptic techniques, provide guidance on equipment, health and safety, and give you the opportunity to trial a range of practicals that students can carry out to build their skills whilst being engaged in microbiology. We will also cover the required microbiology practicals and technical tips in making them successful.

This is a residential course, fees include meals and accommodation for the duration of the course.Course fees vary for participants outside the UK. Please contact enquiries@stem.org.uk for more information

Outcomes

You will be able to:

  • develop your aseptic techniques to prepare microbiology practicals safely
  • understand and communicate health and safety issues with microbiology to others
  • prepare and give advise on a range of practicals suitable for 11-19 biology¬†
