Summary

Science in EYFS is all about ‘Understanding the World’.  Discover how it provides a rich context full of awe, wonder and curiosity where children can develop valuable skills of literacy, language and communication.  Develop your understanding of how adult interactions and stimulating environments impact on children’s learning and consider how to embed the aims of the new EYFS Framework into this area of the curriculum.

Outcomes

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • extend opportunities for developing language and communication skills through adult interactions
  • identify ways science can provide a stimulating environment to promote language and communication skills
  • incorporate opportunities for using science as a context for developing early reading skills
  • explore ways science can stimulate interest and provide opportunities for independent writing
