Treating Genetic Conditions

This is a simple activity to introduce genetic conditions and how gene therapy is being developed to try to treat them. Students model the chromosomes in a nucleus and investigate the idea of gene transfer, before answering questions on a worksheet. This worksheet is part of a collection of materials based on Alfie's Story – about a boy who has a rare genetic disease. The resource is from Genetic Disorders UK, which provides schools with a host of free resources for increasing awareness and understanding of genetic disorders.
