A Level Student Booster - Boolean Logic (Post-event materials)

In this online session you learned about Boolean Logic. The session was aimed at A-level students in Year 12, and gave a broad overview of the topic, taking students from the basic gates and truth tables, through expressions, circuits, the half-adder, algebra and Karnaugh maps. By attending this event, you will have:

  • Understood why computers use Boolean logic
  • Recapped all six logic gate symbols, their truth tables, and operator precedence
  • Drawn a circuit from a truth table or problem statement
  • Written an expression from a circuit and vice versa
  • Had an overview of the binary half-adder circuit
  • Had an overview of Boolean algebra and using it to simplify an expression
  • Had an overview of Karnaugh maps and using this to simplify an expression.
