Audio editing
In this lesson pupils will use audio editing software and apply their skills to record and edit an interview with friends or family members about their experiences of technology when they were growing up.
Pupils will develop an understanding of the reasons for interviewing and how to carry out, record and edit an interview. The lesson begins with exploring historical sources, thinking about the importance of interviewing in oral history, and pupils will consider what skills are needed to conduct an interview. It then introduces a homework task of interviewing friends and family members using a mobile phone. Using free audio editing software, pupils will then upload their audio recording and trim to edit out anything they don't want to hear on the final version of the interview. Finally, pupils consider some of the job roles that involve conducting interviews and editing audio recordings.
