Make papyrus

This is one of a series of resources developed by the Institution of Engineering and Technology inspired by the achievements of the ancient Egyptians.

In this activity pupils discover how papyrus was made in ancient Egyptian times and create 'papyrus' paper using a weaving technique and glue made from sugar and water which is similar to that created by the reeds.  Pupils can then write their name on the 'papyrus' paper using hieroglyphics.
