Debate kit - unisex toilets

This debate kit, asks the question: 'Should schools make all their toilets unisex?'. It allows students to consider the social, ethical and factual issues around this issue. Pupils take on a given role so that they look at the question from a certain point of view.  They share their character's role with the class which then leads to a class discussion.  The debate takes place in rounds in which more information, issues and opinions are heard so pupils are given the opportunity to re-evaluate their initial thoughts on the question. The lesson finishes with a vote on which position pupils agree with and discuss which arguments were the most persuasive.

There is a full set of teacher guidance notes on how to run the debate and links to supporting resources can be found on the I'm a scientist website. https://debate.imascientist.org.uk/unisex-toilets-resources/
