Silver award: how steady is your hand?

In this independent research project students investigate the properties of materials, electric circuits and electronic devices in order to design, build and test a device to measure the steadiness of someone’s hand and the factors that affect it.   Students will need to consider:

  • What materials will they use, and how will they cut, shape and stick them together
  • How long the course be and how complex to make it
  • What diameter hoop to use - or investigate the use of hoops of differing diameters
  • What electronic components they need, and how they make the circuitry, considering the power supply, input device, processor and output device.
  • techniques such as soldering?
