A series of exercises and lessons introducing programming using LiveCode. Students are introduced to simple event-driven app programming, with initialisation routines, user input, simple variables and output to screen.

The eight tasks include calculating and displaying formatted values within a user interface. The exercises give repeated practice using some programming techniques while gradually introducing new ones. The student workbook contains comprehension questions, code and pseudocode examples, discussion point and help.

Partially completed code snippets are provided for use in the exercises, and the completed solutions are also provided.

LiveCode is a fully-featured app development environment used by learners, amateur programmers and professionals alike. The community version is free and open source software.

The learning activities were originally developed for use in Gracemount High School, Edinburgh.
