Getting in Shape: Upper Stages

This booklet, aimed at upper primary level, contains seventeen activities linked to health and diet, incorporating many cross curricular links. The activities look at various aspects of healthy eating and lifestyle including: the nutritional value and benefits of different types of food, what makes a balanced diet, identifying the food groups contained within different meals, the effect of certain foods on growth, and the dietary needs of people at different stages of life. The activities include carrying our surveys, writing emails, and games such as odd one out and bingo.

Included with the booklet is a learning and teaching ideas grid to assist in the planning of an integrated, structured, cross-curricular, programme of work. The Curriculum Planner provides an overview of how the programme fits into all the relevant subject areas.
