This resource, from the Royal Society of Chemistry, asks students to compare the stability of various triads of related species.
There are seven questions in the set, the first four compare an atom with two of its ions (sodium, chlorine, carbon and beryllium) and are suitable for able students aged 14-16 as well as for more advanced students. The remaining three questions introduce more subtle points on electronic arrangement and are suitable for students on post-16 courses.
