Belvue Garden Curry

In this video from the Teachers TV series Chefs Challenge, a professional chef plans a food technology lesson at a school for students with special educational needs, using fruit and vegetables from the school's garden.

Bob Cummings, the gardener at Belvue School, west London, regularly works with small groups of students to teach them how to grow a wide variety of fruit and vegetables and how to judge whether they are ready to be harvested. The students pick a good selection of the food they have grown to use in their food technology lesson.

Chef Michael Coaker works with food technology teacher Pauline Salta to create a suitable dish for the students to cook and share with friends. Michael decides on a vegetable curry prepared with herbs and spices, and uses the berries picked that morning to make fruit smoothies.
