Learning to Cook at Parliament Hill

This Teachers TV video investigates why food technology has been such a successful area of the curriculum at Parliament Hill School for Girls in north London, despite limited facilities for teaching practical cooking.

Head of department James Sharp is a dedicated food technologist, as are his two Deputy Headteachers. Their enthusiasm inspires the students as they become creative and ambitious, tackling a wide range of dishes. James emphasises the importance of retaining the design and technology aspect whilst also stressing the importance of culinary skills.

Parliament Hill is also supporting neighbouring William Ellis Boys' School with a successful cooking club held twice a week for their Year Ten and Eleven boys.
