National numeracy strategy progression charts

These materials, produced by the National Strategies, display the progression of certain key calculation skills from Reception through to Year Six in a poster-type format together with guidance including:
•Key objectives;
•Examples of teaching activities and children’s work;
•Probing questions;
•Possible misinterpretations and errors.

The two key calculation skills are (i) linking addition and subtraction to multiplication and division (ii) subtraction.
