A selection of resources, published by BEAM, for teachers of mathematics. They include challenging problems and puzzles, open-ended investigations, cross-curricular activities and resources to practise and consolidate students' mathematical understanding.
The activities, with their mathematical content, are:
*Christmas coordinates - using co-ordinates in the first quadrant to draw a picture
*Four-part tangram - using the tangram pieces to produce four sided shapes
*Halves - congruency
*Making-spirals - following directional instructions (angles and distance)
*Mine field - co-ordinates in all four quadrants
*Mirrors - symmetrical numbers
*Possible or impossible? - shapes that can or cannot be drawn from properties
*Quarters - dissecting a square into congruent quarters
*Spot the shape - identfiyng shapes by questioning
*Triangles and coordinates - puzzle using coordinates in the first quadrant.
