The Periodic Table

This is one of the 18 Background Books published for Stage II of the Nuffield Chemistry Sample Scheme. The books were highly illustrated and designed to be attractive. This book describes aspects of the history of chemistry by exploring the developments that led to the Periodic Table.

There are 4 parts to this book:
*Part 1: Bringing order to the elements
This part outlines the contributions made by Lavoisier, Dobereiner and Newlands.

*Part 2: Further progress
This part describes the work of Meyer and Mendeleev.

*Part 3: The final solution
This part completes the story with an account of Moseley’s contribution.

This book was first published in 1966 but tells a story that is still of interest today. It includes diagrams of different forms of the Periodic Table.
