This list contains resource to support the teaching of Cells at KS3 in Science.
There are some cut and paste activities, a selection of quizzes, a card game, an overview of cells including animations and interactive activities and an article with more detail for extending the more able.

Useful sheet good for extending the detailed knowledge of the cell for the more able. Worksheet includes templates to cut out the organelles and a guideline on to where to stick them.
Top Science
An excellent resource based on the theme of top trumps that could be used from the start of the topic right through as pupils learn more about parts of the cell/ organs/ and tissues. Pupils could be issued with a pack between 2 at the start of the topic and then use their newly acquired knowledge to try to win the cards of their partner. Includes cards on parts of the cells through to organs
Quizzes *suitable for home teaching*
A plenary or end of topic multichoice quiz based on the qca cells unit.
Science Through Seeds
This activity shows the practical applications of classroom science by illustrating the various career routes possible along with the knowledge and skills learned. Pupils take on the role of hospital medical professionals (Family Liaison Officers) who have to research various aspects of cell biology and then explain the injuries using this knowledge.
Secrets of Cells *suitable for home teaching*
An excellent article which is has a good range of information. Article can be broken down into smaller sections which could be used during lessons. The complete article allows more able pupils to link the different areas of the topic with current research and development. Encourges pupils to relate scientific ideas and further their interest. Web resources available to support the article
