Practical activity that could be added into SOW if time or used as a try this at home activity . Could be added to VLE for parents to use with pupils. Key Stage Three: Anthrax Lessons
Don't be put off by the title this is an excellent resource based on microbes. Includes a nice little video about Jenner and some activities based on the cholera epidemic. It is designed as a 2 lesson activity but there are lots of pieces that will stand alone if the 2 lessons don't suit your class.

A fun activity based on Medieval treatments. Could be done as a matching activity and then moving on to how we treat and prevent diseases today.
Colds and Flu: Sheer Poetry
Excellent as a starter activity, or easily extended to become part of the main lesson. Each poem has questions related to it. Pupils can then make their own short poems. The poems are humorous and simple to understand.
