Pop into the Forest | Primary School Session
10.00 - 10.40 GMT
Beam in live to the Rainforest Biome at the Eden Project, Cornwall for this unique educational session.
It doesn’t matter where you live in the world, we are all connected to Tropical Rainforests.
In this session we welcome your students to the Eden Project, Cornwall. Broadcasting live from the Rainforest Biome we begin by giving a brief introduction to Eden – its mission, the physical site and the construction of the ionic biomes.
We then focus on the location of the world’s Tropical Rainforests and their characteristics. Using Eden’s stunning plant collection, we take a tour of the biome to discover why Tropical Rainforest biodiversity is important and the contribution it makes to the maintenance of a stable climate on earth.
Finally, we consider some simple ways in which we can all play a part in Tropical Rainforest conservation - wherever we live.

Our session partner
We were delighted to partner with the Eden Project in Cornwall to create this fantastic session presented by Robbie Kirkman and Tom Last from their Education Team. They get to teach in one of the world’s most inspirational ‘classrooms’. Robbie shares what it's like to be part of Eden and how the team play their part in protecting our planet:
"I love teaching – and my role at Eden gives me the opportunity to share my enthusiasm for the things I care about the most. I work as part of a super creative team in a unique setting and, together, we shape the stories we share with young people about the environment and our place in it. It’s such a varied job that there really isn’t a typical day. I could find myself beaming into a primary school classroom in the morning to deliver a virtual workshop on climate change… and then taking an A level group around the Rainforest Biome learning about biodiversity in the afternoon! What makes Eden such a great classroom is that you’re immersed in the thing you’re learning about. You can see, hear, feel, smell and even taste it. The Rainforest Biome, for example, has a magnitude and beauty that captivates learners and piques their curiosity.”
