It is well known that practical work in Science improves learner engagement. However whilst the learners are usually keen to undertake practical tasks, it is much more challenging to ensure the intended learning takes place. This course starts by exploring the research around effective practical work, and provides an opportunity to reflect on the current effectiveness of the practical work undertaken by you and/or your department. We will then work through practical examples to explore how practical work can be used to support concept development, how effective questioning can be used to develop understanding and finally how to support learners when approaching practical and extended response exam questions.

There is a £140 subsidy available. Please note that this does not deduct the fee immediately. You will receive an invoice for the full amount and the subsidy will be released back to the school once the invoice has been paid and attendance at the session has been confirmed.
