Summary

Integrating Climate Change into the Curriculum

Climate change is now accepted as an urgent problem for the world now not just in the future. We need to ensure that students are well informed about the science behind and the consequences of climate change. The curriculum is overcrowded there is no time to introduce new topics, but climate change can be used as a context for delivering the curriculum. This course aims to explore the science of climate change, the sources of information you could include in your teaching and the opportunities for integrating climate change into your lessons.

Structure:

Session 1: introduction to teaching science in context. Sources of information on the science and consequences of climate change that could be included in lessons. Review of National Curriculum KS3 and KS4 identifying opportunities. Including practical activities.

Gap task: Develop a teaching resource to share or trialling the practical activities.

Session 2: Discuss gap task results. Discussion of teaching resources across the curriculum. Next steps.

There is a subsidy available of £60 per school. Please note that this does not deduct the fee immediately. You will receive an invoice for the full amount and the subsidy will be released back to the school once the invoice has been paid and attendance at the session has been confirmed.
