Technicians supporting learning - network event HE001 / C06

An opportunity to explore how technicians can develop their skills in facilitating learning and discover how their contribution to learning and teaching can be recognised through Higher Education Academy Fellowships, which are nationally and increasingly internationally recognised.

10:00 - 10:30 Registration

10:30 - 11:10Introductions from HEaTED and HEA

11:10 - 12:10 Workshops (running in parallel)

• A) HEA: 1 hour on fellowships including how technicians can contribute to internal matrix
• B) HEaTED: 1 hour taster from Teaching and Learning CPD course - delegates will get the opportunity to work through a selection of activities to give an insight into the 2 day Teaching and learning skills for technical staff course delivered by HEaTED. The outcomes for the session are:
• the role of the technician in the learner journey
• what makes an effective learning session
• the teaching cycle

12:10 - 13:00 Lunch

13:00 - 14:00 Workshops A or B (as above)

14:00 - 14:15 Break

14:15 - 14:45 Alignment to fellowship application: a mapping exercise to demonstrate how completion of the HEaTED Teaching and learning course can contribute to achieving the fellowship accreditation.

14:45 - 15:00 Final summary and end

15:00 - 16:00 Optional 1 hour at the end of the day - application support session, identifying your own pathway, mapping skills against the fellowship framework.
