Women into engineering

Produced in 2011 by the Learning and Skills Improvement Service (LSIS), this case study looks at the theme of equality and diversity. Petroc, in partnership with CITB-Construction Skills, aimed to reduce the gender inequality that exists within the construction industry. In seeking to establish what barriers women may experience in accessing certificated courses within the construction industry, the ‘Women into Construction’ project was developed. It was designed to meet the needs of women going into construction and to find out what attracts them to the construction industry. This case study describes the project.
