Expressing generality (project mathematics update)

Project Mathematics Update is a series of professional development resource packs from the Open University, sponsored by the DES. The materials are designed both for teachers who are already teaching mathematics and for those who are moving into mathematics teaching.

The materials aim to:

  • help teachers who seek professional updating because of the changing emphasis in the mathematics curriculum.
  • give teachers the chance to experience for themselves investigative and discussion-based approaches to learning mathematics.
  • show how these approaches may be applied to standard mathematical topics, so that teachers may guide pupils in the same style of learning.
