Problem Solving: Year Three
This series of interactive excel sheets is aimed at Year Three students and explores problem solving. New questions can be generated each time by the click of a button. To check the answers click on the smiley face.
In the first sheet two dominoes are displayed. Students have to alter the scores in order to reach a target number when the dots are added together. In the second sheet either two or three dice can be rolled. Again students have to alter the scores in order to reach a target number when added together.
The third sheet asks students to place numbers in a triangle so that each side adds to the selected target number.
In the fourth sheet numbers are placed in a 3 by 3 grid such that all adjacent values have to have a common difference.
In the fifth sheet either select either four even or four odd numbers that sum to a target number. In the sixth sheet students have to find a pair of numbers that have a given sum and product.
In the seventh sheet students have to find the value of the missing digit in both an addition and a subtraction sum.
In the final sheet students have to combine four numbers in a multiplication or addition sum which has an answer between 40 and 199.
Note:
This program was designed to be viewed on a screen with a resolution of 1024 x 768. Users may have to adjust the resolution of their screen for the pages to display as was originally intended. The program uses macros which need to be enabled on the users' machine.
