2D and 3D Shapes

This resource contains a series of interactive spreadsheets designed to demonstrate various teaching points and to provide practice in 2D and 3D shapes and their properties at primary level. They are:

2D and 3D shapes: naming twelve 2D shapes and their features, describing 3D shapes, identifying nets for 3D shapes, classifying triangles and rotational symmetry.

2D and 3D shapes and symmetry- match 2D: interactive activities for matching shapes to their properties, square and triangular pegboards for creating shapes, creating symmetrical patterns in a particular axis of symmetry and investigating symmetry in letters of the alphabet.

2D and 3D shapes and symmetry-new shapes: creating new shapes using a series of squares, triangles or rectangles, a robot drawing tool, which could link to aspects of basic programming, an interactive set of multilink cubes which children use to build different 3D shapes and a half a shape which children then have to complete to show reflective symmetry.

This resource has been provided by the Vitual Textbook. It is part of the Geometry and Measure sub-collection, which contains many further curriculum linked interactive spreadsheets.
