Mechathlon
Mechathlon, from the Centre for Science Education, is a set of teaching materials which offer a cross-curricular approach to learning about engineering. The context for this case study is designing a multipurpose vehicle which could aid recovery following a devastating earthquake.
In this case study students build a Speed Buggy from a TEP kit. They then have the opportunity to develop the design to complete a series of tasks based round a competitition called a mechathlon. This is a mechanical pentathlon.
Teachers' notes and the starter activity are included.
