Shape The Future: The Motor Car

From the Nuffield Foundation, this resource contains a series of teacher support sheets and student record sheets that provide nine hours work, based on the theme of the future of the motor car. Three possible challenges are presented:

* Develop a presentation to parents to inform them of the impact of the motorcar on people's lives and challenge them to suggest ways in which they can help tackle associated problems.

* Develop a presentation to the local authority to inform them of the impact of the motorcar and challenge them to suggest ways in which they can help tackle the problems.

* Develop a presentation to young engineers and scientists to inform them of the impact of the motorcar on people's lives and challenge them to suggest technical developments that will help tackle the problems.

Through this activity, children will learn:
* about the impact of the motorcar
* a range of research skills
* to use PowerPoint software to develop a presentation
* to work collaboratively
* about possible solutions to the impact of the motorcar.
