Thinking about Energy

Work done in this Nuffield 13 - 16 module followed from the B unit called ‘Machines and engines’ and the S unit ‘Fuels’. This X unit provided enough material for eight double periods. It could be selected to complete either a Science or a Further Science course. The teachers’ guide included 10 worksheets to supplement the students’ booklet.

The teachers’ guide pointed out that this topic was likely to cause pupils to ask questions to which it is not always easy to give answers. This was because the situation with regard to energy resources, energy usage, and energy costs was changing all the time; information was soon out-of-date and almost always difficult to interpret.
