Dinosaurs- Ages 5-7
Help children to create a life-size paper model of Dippy the Dinosaur high bone. They then measure the length of their own thigh bone and compare it to the length of Dippy’s.
Rocks, Soils and Fossils- Ages 7-9
Either print out the fossil cards and place them around your home for a fun fossil hunt, or look at the images on the screen. Ask children what they think each fossil might have been and also what each one might tell fossil hunters about the past? A recording sheet is supplied to do this, or could could be done by discussion.
Find out how finches in the Galapagos Islands and the different adaptations that they have. Then use the bird images to find out where they are found in the world, their habitat and food source.
Evolution - Ages 9-11
This resource links to evolution and inheritance, providing a video of a news report on the history of life on Earth. A newsreader highlights the progression of some species from ‘simple’ life such as single celled organisms progressing to more complex organisms at different stages in evolutionary history, explaining that animals we see today have evolved over millions of years.
