Baking Bread
This resource looks at the irreversible change associated with making bread. It includes teacher guidance for activities, a recipe for chapattis, photographs and a worksheet. It can be adapted for use across the primary phases.
Although designed as a science resource it could also be used to support the teaching of the D & T topic of bread.
Biscuit Bonanza
Get baking biscuits either savoury or sweet with recipes for Cheese straws and ANZAC biscuits. The resource was origially created for secondary learners but the powerpoints and recipes could easily be adpted for primary. Children could also look at how they recipes can be adapted to create different tasting biscuits.
What Shape Should Your Pastry Be?
Design and make a new pastry product for a particular group of people. Children carry out market research to identify the needs and preferences of their consumers. They also record their responses to appearance, taste and texture.
