Changing Futures

Changing Futures was a project that brought together teenagers with cystic fibrosis (CF), clinicians, artists, scientists and educationalists, to develop resources exploring gene therapy and CF. Run by Nowgen and with the support of the Wellcome Trust, the collaboration put young people with CF at the centre of planning an educational arts package to ensure that the resources created were valuable and meaningful.

The project team used creative approaches to explore:
* The history of gene therapy for CF and the developments in the field
* Young people's experience of living with CF
* How gene therapy might work and what young people think about this possible new treatment

The Changing Futures resources explore how CF is inherited and the effect it has on people's lives, as well as the history and developments in gene therapy. They consist of extensive video clips, animations and teacher support materials. These cover a range of activities including experiments and interviews with a range of experts. The materials can be used to complement 14-16 science and post-16 biology.
