SMP 16-19: probability models for data

The aim of 16-19 Mathematics has been to produce a course which, while challenging, is accessible and enjoyable to all students. The course develops ability and confidence in mathematics and its applications, together with an appreciation of how mathematical ideas help in the understanding of the world and society in which we live.

This unit: helps foster an awareness of the usefulness of probability ideas in modelling the real world; develops the ability to model data of a probabilistic kind; develops an understanding of the assumptions that are necessary in the modelling process and confidence in discussing them; helps foster an awareness of the distinction, and the relevance of the distinction, between deterministic and probabilistic situations.
